SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Watch the biggest metal act to ever come out of the Bay Area for just $6!

Metallica is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The quartet will perform four shows in December at the Fillmore in San Francisco. But, tickets are only being offered to members of the band's official fan club and, they'll be very affordable. Four-ticket packs, which consist of one ticket for each show, are $19.81- the price was meant to honor the year the band was formed, 1981 and single-show tickets are $6 dollars!

But, In order to purchase the $6.00 tickets ( plus fees) you must pay $45-55.00 to " join " their fan club. Then they come in 4 tix packs for 19.81 ( plus fees) ...that ends up costing in the range of $80 ? Unless you pay fees to join you are unable to get any more info. Sounded great on the 1 am newscast, turns out not so great.

Even better are the super-low ticket prices. According to the band's website, fans can "participate in the entire week of festivities with special four pack tickets (one ticket for each of the four shows) and automatic entry into the contests for various other special events, available for the clever price of $19.81 (get it??).

"If you can't join us for the full week, we'll have individual show tickets too and as you can see we're going back to early '80s ticket pricing (but not the hair!). Single show tickets will be just $6.00 each. Both four packs and individual show tickets will be available for Fan Club members only through a reservation system and we do have to add facility fees, blah, blah."

Of course, there's the catch: you have to join the Met Club before you have a shot at buying tickets. On the other hand, $45 isn't so bad if you do indeed get into one or all of these special shows (bear in mind the 'reservation system').
