AC/DC have confirmed, via Angus Young, that a new tour is being planned. In an interview with the UK's Sun Newspaper, Young was asked about the new 'AC/DC - Live at River Plate' DVD which brings AC/DC to London for tonight's world premiere at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo.

In the interview, Young said that "We have such diehard fans, old and new. We've survived many changing fashions of music – we've outlived the lot of them." he then went on to say "Now we're thinking, 'How can we ever better the 'Black Ice' world tour?' But we will,".

No dates or other information is available at this time, however, both Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams have both previously hinted at there being a new tour. There are no details about a new album, however, AC/DC tours generally support the issue of a new album release.

The guitarist, known for his schoolboy outfit, also rubbished rumours the band, whose Black Ice tour was the second highest grossing tour in history, are considering retiring.

Speaking to Sky News Johnson denied he was thinking of hanging up his legendary flat cap and quitting.

"No, never. Not as long as I can still walk and sing. I should think we'll be back absolutely.

"We'll definitely be back," added Angus, who confirmed they are working on a new album but admitted he had no idea how they could top the Black Ice tour, which sold 5.1m tickets and grossed an estimated $477m.

"We'll just keep at it and next time we'll try to do it bigger and better."

AC/DC is an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in December, 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although AC DC is commonly classified as hard rock and considered pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal music, ACDC has always classified their music as "rock and roll". AC/DC underwent several line-up changes (also known to fans as "era's") throughout their history, including the “Bon Scott era (1974-80)” and “Brian Johnson era (1980-present)”.
The early lineups changed often, but the 1974 enlistment of the very charming singer Ronald 'Bon' Scott as their front man signified the beginning of real success. In 1979, ACDC recorded their highly successful album Highway to Hell. Lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol abuse. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected as Scott's replacement.
